    Spray Detection

Directional spray and mist from fittings, seals, valves and lines. V4 looks for the visible release in your camera view and passes alarms into the systems your operators already watch.

Spray and Visible Vapor — Combined Benchmark

VisionAery V4 Liquid Leak Detection was trained on over 200,000 images.

Accuracy was evaluated with 9,147 previously unseen frames, without per site training.

Spray and visible vapor were evaluated together; these are not separate measurements for either type. Detection and false positive rates are frame-level results, not alarm rates or performance guarantees. F-score is the pixel-level harmonic mean of precision and recall. Scenarios outside those tested are not covered by these figures.

    Spray Detection Questions

Where can spray detection be useful?

The supplied examples show water utility pump stations, mining pipework and oil and gas well pads. Coverage depends on whether the camera can see the release with sufficient image detail.

    Is 98.1% a spray-only detection rate?

No. Spray and visible vapor were measured as one combined benchmark class: 98.1% frame-level detection, 3.7% frame-level false positive rate and 0.923 pixel-level F1/Dice on 9,147 previously unseen frames. These model results are before the alarm engine, not a spray-only result or an alarm-rate guarantee.

Can it detect an invisible release?

No. Spray detection requires a release visible in the camera image. It does not identify a chemical or measure concentration.

    Can rain be gated?

Yes. A camera I/O rain sensor, a polled I/O module or a weather service can pause detection during rain with a post-rain forgiveness window. Failed weather lookups never block detection. Rain gating helps reduce rain-related events, not all false alarms.
